What Is a Travel Health Consultation?

After taking time off work and traveling to our dream getaway, the last thing you want to do is waste time suffering from preventable illness. A travel health consultation is a visit where a healthcare professional reviews your travel plans and helps protect your health before you go. We look at where you’re traveling, how long you’ll be away, and what activities you plan to do. Based on this, we recommend any needed or optional vaccines, and give practical advice to help you avoid illness while traveling.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Step 1: Consultation

We review your travel plans, health history, and vaccine records.

Step 2: Same-Day Vaccines (When Possible)

Most vaccines can be given during the same appointment. Some vaccines may require a follow-up dose.

Step 3: Take-Home Travel Package

You receive a paper package that may include:

• Vaccine records
• International certificates (when required)
• Medication instructions
• Travel health tips

• One injection fee per visit
• Oral vaccines available when appropriate

Consultation Fee

• $85 consultation
• Injection fee is waived if vaccines are given on the same day as the consultation

Injection Fees

• Same day as consultation: Injection fee waived
• Follow-up visit: $30 injection fee + vaccine cost
• Injection only (no consultation): $35 injection fee

Vaccine prices vary depending on the vaccine and destination.

Insurance & OHIP Coverage

• Travel consultations and vaccines are not covered by OHIP
• Some private insurance plans may partially cover vaccines
• Bring your insurance app or card and you can see if you are covered
• We can provide receipts for insurance claims
