With flu season around the corner, now is the time to protect your health. The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has released guidance urging adults with heart disease to stay up to date on five critical vaccines:
- Influenza (Flu): annually
- Pneumococcal (PCV15/PCV20/PCV21)
- COVID-19 (seasonal)
- Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV): once for those 75+, or 50–74 with heart disease
- Shingles (Herpes Zoster): 2 doses after age 50
Why This Matters
People with heart disease face higher risks of severe infection, hospitalization, and even heart attack or stroke following respiratory illnesses like flu, COVID-19, or RSV. The good news: vaccines are highly effective at reducing these risks.
At Destinations Travel Clinic, we specialize in preventive care and vaccination. Our clinicians provide individualized counselling, review your vaccination history, and help ensure you are protected before the winter season begins.
